Foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. All meals, foods and beverages are prepared and served by qualified child nutrition professionals. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.
Each school offers two meal serving lines, a traditional full-service line and a grab-and-go line. Both serving lines features healthy entrée choices including whole grains and low-fat protein, along with at least two different vegetable choices, a daily fruit choice (canned, fresh, or dried fruit), and a choice of milk (1% unflavored or fat-free chocolate). All schools provide plenty of healthy fruit and vegetable choices on our salad bars!
To ensure that students eat a balanced lunch, they must take at least three food items and one of the three must be a ½ cup fruit or vegetable serving. If the student does not take the correct number of items, the cashier will help the student.
Students who qualify for the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program receive breakfast and lunch at no charge. Students who do not qualify, will receive free meals during the 2021- 2022 school year.
